Nine Frame Analysis:

The film that I have chosen which has the same genre as the film that I am making is The Cabin In The Woods. This is because the plot of the film is similar to the the plot of my film and also as it is unexpected. The Cabin In The Woods begins by opening with a dark and red background. It then weaves in the name of the corporation company "Lionsgate". The dark and red background connotes with blood and murder, which is what my film is going to consist of. The composition of The Cabin In The Woods is very well structured as it shows the main characters in the front of the camera frame and the less important characters in the back. The director has done this as he wants to show the importance of the main characters. The 9 frames below shows the structure of the film. It shows how the opening sequence begins and how it ends with the name of the film. As the opening sequence goes on, the audience sees blood and fire imagery which then leads on the characters dialogue. The genre of the film is easily noticible through the title sequence as the dark and red colours associate death, blood and gory murder. Also, the font of the text in the first shot gives the audience the impression that the genre is thriller as the writing is bold. The bold writing suggests power, seriousness and dominance. The director of the film has used a variety of shots in the opening sequence such as medium long shots, long shots, close ups and medium close ups. This gives the audience the idea that the film is going to have a thriller/horror genre as the constant shot changes represents fast scenes which is what thriller films usually have. The shots from the opening sequence creates an engima of what does the blood scenes represent, and an engima of what happens to the cabin in the woods?
