Evaluation Activity 1:
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real life media products?(i.e. of film openings)

My media product uses many special effects as it is in vlack and white, and as the titles are moving titles. Also, my media product uses special effects on sound which as the use of foley sound with the heavy breathing near to end of the film. My media product represents particular social groups as the main character, Jade is a typical student who enjoys herself and likes to have fun. The perpertrator differs from the main character as he is portrayed as the vilian and is aggressive.
The media product which i have used is an opening sequence for a film. The title used for my film reflects real media products as the title was created on premier pro and featured the use of special effects. Also, the title for my film Desperate Measures highlights the importance of everyday life and those who face problems which puts them in a desperate situation.
The setting and location for my media product uses conventions of real media prodcuts as the opening sequence is filmed in a local alley way in the streets of Tottenham, London. This setting represents a natural setting as it is in a public place. The costumes and props for my media product uses conventions of real media products as the costumes are casual attire that people would wear on a normal day. The costimes worn in the opening sequence are not fancy clothing but represent simplicity and naturalism. The props uses, for example the fake blood, the knife and the shoulder rig all reprsent the use of conventions of real media products as they are all essential in thriller/drama and horror film making as they all provide professionalism and creativity. Also, the fake blood that was used uses comventions of real media prodcuts as it created a more realistic feel to the audience during the murder scene after the stabbing. If no blood was used, the scene would be portrayed as unrealistic.
I have used camera work and editing for my opening sequence by using the digital Slr camera to record my opening sequence as i used premier pro once I had gathered all of my shots to edit the opening sequence. The title font and style for my opening sequence uses conventions of real media products as the font is written in a stereotypical font which is associayed with the thriller genre. Also, the style of my opening sequence uses real media products as it comes in near the end of the film which is a connotation of opening sequences .
I have used the story of my opening sequence as a real media product as the story consists of a teenage girl who is mysteriously murdered. The opening of my film sets ip the enigma as it starts with the teenage girl walking down the street and talking on her phone to a person that is unknown to the audience. The fact that the opening sequence starts with the teenage girl walking implies that she is on a journey and has no idea what is about to come to her today. The genre for my opening sequence is thriller and the opening suggests this as the film is in black and white and also as it starts with someones point of view looking down at the teenage girl while she is completely unaware. In my opening sequence the characters are introduced one after anoher instead of simultaneously. This is because is creates supsense for my opening sequence. The main character is introduced first, and further down the line the perpertrator is introduced during the murder scene.
