Preliminary Task:

Evaluation:

The role that I undertook in the planning of my short film was to be the main character in the film, and to help to edit the film. I was the main character in the film and so I had to follow the instructions given to me by my teacher of what the film had to include, which was to shoot a film consisting of a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom I then exchange a few dialogues with. I also helped to edit the film by using PR and then by choosing the most suitable footage in the correct order so that the film ran smoothly and also to remove any footage that was not needed in the film so that it didnt lack proffesionalism. I also had to work with my team and contribute ideas about how we could make the film be the best that it can be whilst bearing in mind that we only had two minutes.

I believe that my completed task was successful to some extent, but I also believe that there are a few things that I could have done to improve it. The reasons why I believe that my completed task was successful is due to the fact that I followed the instructions given to me from my teacher effectively. This is because I have demonstrated the 180 degree rule; shot reverse shot and match on action. I also showed that I could work in a group in a certain amount of time and produce a flm with everyone in the group getting a certain role. Also, while my group and I were recording, I stayed in character, especially when I was having a conversation with my boss. My group and myself edited the film cautiously.

However, one weakness of my film is that it lacked continuity and consistency when I had to do match on action and shot reverse shot. This is because my group and I failed to produce a variety of shots and so we failed to match on action. My group and I also found it challegining to use shot reverse shot at times. This is again because we didn't have enough shos and the shot of myself coming through the door was not a good representation of shot reverse shot as it didn't show the shots clearly enough and in detail. Lastly, I believe that because of the setting we chose to shoot the video, the film appeared to look more unrealistic and unproffesional. This is because there were constant obstacles and distractions wthin the environment, such as classroms and people walking past.

From planning and producing my own music video, I have learnt that there are a lot of hurdles that I have to come accross in order to make a good effective film. I have also learnt that I have to make sure that I have a variety of shots so that I am able to match on action and use shot reverse shot. Lastly, I have learnt that planning a music video takes a lot of preparation and patience if i want it to be of high quality. In order to improve next time, I will ensure that I have a high cutting ratio, and I will also make sure that the choreography is in synch with my movements so that I am able to show professional editing.
